For someone who enjoys the pops of crisp sweetness from sweetcorn, corn potage is sure to be a comfort food. We picked up a couple of brands on one of our supermarket trips at the end of our trip earlier in 2018, and this here is Knorr Tsubu Tappuri Corn Cream Potage.

Each box is a ‘happy size’ containing eight portions sealed individually in foil bags.

Each bag contained a yellow granular powder with dehydrated corn kernels. The corn potage is prepared by adding 150 mL of boiling water to the contents, stirring quickly for 15 seconds, then letting it stand for 1 minute.

The prepared corn potage is a translucent, almost opaque yellow colour with bright and plump kernels floating on the surface and a prominent aroma of chicken stock.

The chicken stock flavour came through prominently on tasting with subtle corn undertones and gave the soup a richer and heartier flavour than other corn potage soups but leaves the flavour of corn coming through strongest from the generous number of rehydrated corn kernels, which have a surprisingly bright and sweet corn flavour. The soup is slightly viscous with a grittiness remaining in the soup that stops it from being smooth.
This Knorr Tsubu Tappuri Corn Cream Potage contained 132 g or 8 servings of 16.5 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Ōsaka, Japan in 2018.
