This is the Sangaria Umashuwa Harumi Soda, featuring 1% Harumi juice from Ehime Prefecture. Harumi is a relatively new citrus cultivar developed in Ehime, classified as a type of dekopon. A cross between Kiyomi and Ponkan, Harumi is known for its balanced sweet-tart flavour and smooth, easy-to-peel skin.

The beverage had a semi-opaque golden yellow appearance with a clear, sweet citrus aroma—lively yet free from sharp or acidic notes. Light to moderately carbonated, it offered a crisp mouthfeel when consumed chilled. The flavour opened with immediate clarity: rich, fragrant citrus with a soft sweetness that mirrored the distinctive character of Harumi. A gentle tartness emerged mid-sip, adding freshness and dimension before tapering into a smooth, clean finish. The overall profile gave the impression of freshly squeezed Harumi juice—capturing the sensation of bursting juice vesicles without pulp—despite the low juice content.
Overall, this was a a well-balanced, refreshingly fragrant soda that convincingly evokes the fresh flavour of Harumi citrus. Surprisingly expressive for only 1% juice.
This Sangaria Umashuwa Harumi Soda contained 500 mL. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2025.
