Suntory Craft Boss Sekai no Tea No Sugar Blue Ceylon

This was the Suntory Craft Boss Sekai no Tea No Sugar Blue Ceylon, a blend of Dimbula tea leaves from Sri Lanka, Kenyan tea leaves, and oolong tea from Wuyishan, China. Drawing on the Chinese tradition of blending teas with differing levels of oxidation, it combined two black teas based on Ceylon tea with a oolong tea, sometimes referred to as ‘blue tea’.

The beverage presented a translucent, deep brown-red hue. The aroma was layered and expressive, carrying fruity notes alongside floral tones and a deeper roasted character.

When consumed chilled, and despite the absence of added sugar, the opening palate delivered immediate soft caramel and dark chocolate notes, recalling the foundational profile associated with the Kirin’s Gogo no Kōcha Milk Tea. As the sip progressed, these notes eased back, allowing a more assertive fruity black tea character to emerge. This remained bold yet clean, without bitterness, before resolving into a smooth, lingering finish with a gentle sweetness characteristic of a Wuyishan oolong tea.

Overall, the profile was fragrant with a satisfying aftertaste, forming a distinctive and coherent flavour that invited repurchasing.
