This is the Nippon Yell Gummy Mie Meyer Lemon, made using Meyer lemon paste from Mie Prefecture. While overall production in Japan is low, the Nanki region of Mie Prefecture is one of the country’s leading producers. Meyer lemons contain more juice than regular lemons and are known for their richer, more mellow flavour.

Each gummy was dome-shaped, measuring approximately 2 cm in diameter and 1 cm in height, with a light yellow hue and a refreshing yet rich lemon aroma. On tasting, the surface delivered an initial sweetness, followed by the firm, bouncy chew of the gummy exterior, which yielded to a soft jelly interior. The lemon flavour emerged immediately, presenting a mellow and aromatic profile. This developed into a rich sweetness at mid-palate, with the gummy and jelly components merging in the finish to create a juicy lemon character. The flavour captured the fresh, aromatic sweetness of Meyer lemon, complemented by a soft and refreshing zestiness in the aftertaste. The mild acidity and fragrant aroma of the fruit were well preserved, without reliance on citrus oils that can impart a harsher note, making these gummies a delightful purchase and one worth repeating.
This Nippon Yell Gummy Mie Meyer Lemon contained 40 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Tōkyō, Japan in 2024.
