Dolly’s Bakery in Northmead is on a street with at least two other eateries offering similar fare, and still manages to boast a rating of 4.8 out of 5 based on over 150 reviews. That was a strong indicator for us that they’re doing something worth trying firsthand.

However, if it weren’t for the numerous online reviews, we might have overlooked the shop altogether while passing by. The interior appeared sparse, with only a few scattered tables, and the cabinets were empty at 10:30 AM, albeit an early hour for pizza. Despite the underwhelming initial impression of the interior, the owner proved to be friendly, with several customers coming in to collect their takeaway orders.

Chicken, Garlic and Mushroom Pide ($9.00)

The pide measured approximately 25 cm on each side, featuring thin and crisp flatbread throughout.

Abundantly loaded with toppings, the pide had well-balanced seasoning, with garlic subtly lingering in the finish without overwhelming each bite. The chicken stood out as the predominant flavor, with each piece offering the taste and texture of quality chicken. Meanwhile, the mushrooms added depth to the savoury flavour while the cheese served as the stretchy binder, effectively melding together the flavorful chunks of chicken and mushroom. We enjoyed this pide vastly more than gözleme, which tended to be greasier in our experience.
Although we only ordered a single pide this time as we were seeking a snack, our experience aligned with many of the online reviews. We would return in the future to try other offerings from their menu.
