Guzto Banana Chips

This is the Guzto Banana Chips, made from saba bananas cultivated in the Philippines.

Each chip was a bias-cut slice approximately 1 mm thick. While many pieces were broken, the intact slices measured around 5 cm by 2.5 cm.

On tasting, the chips presented an initial surface sweetness, followed by a crisp and audibly snappy bite. The texture remained consistent throughout, with no sugar coating on the interior, allowing the natural tropical sweetness of the saba banana to come through in a more subdued manner. The broken fragments proved convenient for consumption with a spoon, cereal-style. Notably, these banana chips were significantly thinner than those typically found in Southeast Asian supermarkets, and as a result, delivered a clean, addictive crispness without the denser, airy-spongy quality associated with thicker cuts.

This Guzto Banana Chips contained 500 g. It was produced in The Phillipines and received as a gift from acquaintances visiting The Phillipines in 2025.
