Bahaghari Banana Chips

This is the Bahaghari Banana Chips, made using saba bananas from the Philippines.

The pieces in each bag varied in size, with many folded over or partially broken, though intact chips averaged 2.5 × 5 × 0.1 cm. Their colour ranged from golden yellow to brown, with some pieces flecked by small black seeds. The chips carried a distinct fried aroma.

On tasting, the chips delivered a satisfying crunch reminiscent of thick-cut potato crisps, with an audible snap through each bite. The surface was smooth, free from greasiness, and offered an initial subtle sweetness drawn from brown sugar. This gave way to a rich and fragrant banana flavour that deepened as one chewed. The texture remained consistently crisp, without any sense of residual oil, while the sweetness was restrained rather than cloying. The result was a balanced and enjoyable snack that showcased the natural character of the banana without being overwhelming.

Overall, these banana chips were impressively crisp with a natural banana flavour and restrained sweetness, making them both satisfying and worth repurchasing.

This Bahaghari Banana Chips contained 100 g. It was produced in The Phillipines and received as a gift from acquaintances in Sydney, Australia in 2025.
