Nippon Yell Gummy Yamaguchi Yumehoppe

This is the Nippon Yell Gummy Yamaguchi Yumehoppe, made with juice from Yumehoppe (Setomi) citrus grown in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Yumehoppe is a local hybrid of Kiyomi and Yoshiura Ponkan, known for its strong sweetness and thin inner membranes, making it especially easy to eat.

Each gummy measured approximately 2 cm in diameter and 1 cm in height, with an opaque orange hue and a sweet, mandarin-like aroma. On tasting, the sour crystals on the surface gave an initial tang and gentle crunch, quickly followed by a firm, elastic outer layer that yielded to a soft, jelly-like centre. The citrus flavour emerged immediately, with the outer gummy delivering a bright, clean acidity that deepened as one chewed. The centre then released a concentrated sweetness, balancing the initial tartness and flooding the palate with a juicy, rounded mikan flavour through to the finish. The overall flavour was vibrant and well-balanced—sweet and citrus-forward without sharpness.

A bright, juicy citrus gummy with clean, layered flavour—worth repurchasing.

This Nippon Yell Gummy Yamaguchi Yumehoppe contained 40 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
