This is the Woolworths Indulgent Hot Cross Buns Cinnabon, a limited-edition flavour released on Boxing Day 2025 ahead of Easter 2026.

Inspired by Cinnabon rolls, these hot cross buns featured a cinnamon-infused dough studded with cinnamon chips and filled with a cream cheese-style centre. Each pack contained four buns.

Reheated in the microwave for 25 seconds, the bun became soft and tender, with the cream cheese filling oozing from the base. The dough delivered a clearly defined cinnamon profile, with spice worked directly into the crumb and reinforced by the melt-in-the-mouth cinnamon chips. This combination evoked a strong sense of nostalgia, recalling the cinnamon swirl bread loaves commonly sold in supermarkets during the 1990s. Compared with the original Cinnabon product, the dough was a marked improvement, offering a more resilient, less mushy structure and avoiding an overly buttery mouthfeel. The cream cheese-style filling, however, mirrored the original in being excessively sweet and sticky, and the bun proved notably more enjoyable without it.
Overall, a well-executed cinnamon bun interpretation whose spiced dough showed restraint and structural improvement, though the overly sweet filling limited its appeal.
This Woolworths Indulgent Hot Cross Buns Cinnabon contained 360 g (90 g x 4 pieces). It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2025.
