This is the Morinaga Hi Chew Gold. This premium edition featured a trio of tropical fruit flavours—Gold Kiwi, Golden Pineapple, and Golden Mango.

Each was made with fruit purée and individually wrapped, with each piece measureing approximately 2 x 1.5 x 1 cm, slightly smaller than the standard Hi-Chew size.

Golden Pineapple

The piece had an opaque bright yellow exterior with a white centre. On first chew, a mellow sweetness emerged before giving way to an intensely juicy, fragrant golden pineapple flavour. The acidity was restrained, just enough to lift the richness without overwhelming it. The result was a vibrant and deeply satisfying tropical pineapple flavour.

Gold Kiwi

Also featuring an opaque light yellow shell and white centre, this variety offered the mildest flavour of the trio. A gentle kiwi sweetness appeared on the nose and continued into the first few chews. The golden kiwi flavour developed with a subtle aromatic quality and a delicate acidity, capturing the soft, mellow character of the fruit. Accurate and refined, it mirrored the gentler profile of golden kiwi as compared to its green counterpart.

Golden Mango

These pieces had an opaque orange outer layer with a white core. Compared to the Okinawa Mango Hi-Chew, this version had a less saturated hue and a more subdued aroma. However, the flavour was more complex—less sugary and more vibrant, with tropical acidity and subtle floral notes that added freshness and dimension. It conveyed a juicier, more aromatic mango profile, with a natural-tasting balance of sweetness and tang.

As with other Hi-Chew varieties, the texture was soft and yielding, non-sticky, and free from any lingering artificial aftertaste. The fruitiness intensified with each chew, making the overall experience consistently clean and enjoyable.

Overall, this was a premium tropical trio delivering accurate, well-balanced flavours with a juicy chew and refined textural consistency. Each fruit profile was distinct and thoughtfully rendered—well worth repurchasing.
