This is the Fujiya Country Ma’am Yūbari Melon, made using 0.5% Yūbari melon sourced from Yūbari City in Hokkaidō Prefecture.

Each package contained 12 individually sealed cookies. Each cookie was circular, measuring approximately 4 cm in diameter and 1 cm in height, with a soft green hue and a gentle baked cookie aroma. The packaging recommended reheating in a microwave at 500–600 W for 20 seconds.

After reheating, the cookies released a warmer, more rounded aroma, with the melon notes becoming more pronounced alongside a creamy sweetness from the chocolate.
On tasting, the green-hued exterior offered an initial crisp shell with a mild savoury quality and restrained sweetness, before giving way to a soft orange-hued interior that melted readily on the palate. A gentle Yūbari melon sweetness emerged at this stage, but the most concentrated flavour came from the white chocolate chips. Once warmed, these melted smoothly, contributing a creamy texture and a richer, more saturated melon character, with a depth and mouthfeel reminiscent of the soft, ripe centre of fresh melon. Despite their small size, the cookies delivered a layered experience of contrasting textures and escalating flavour intensity.
Overall, a well-judged seasonal variation that used warmth to unlock depth, balancing restraint, richness, and textural contrast with surprising impact.
This Fujiya Country Ma’am Yubari Melon contained 120 g (10 g x 12 cookies). It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2025.
