The Ito En x Nippon Yell Nikkori Nashi is a beverage containing 1% juice from Nikkori nashi grown in Tochigi Prefecture. The Nikkori nashi is a local variety developed in Tochigi, named after “Nikko,” a renowned sightseeing destination, and the kanji character “梨” (ri in Chinese), symbolising pears. The name also reflects the Japanese word “nikkori,” meaning “smile,” embodying the hope of bringing joy to both producers and consumers. These pears are notable for their impressive size—averaging 1 kg—as well as their high sugar content, crisp texture, and juiciness.
The beverage had an opaque, off-white beige hue and a delicate floral aroma reminiscent of typical nashi pears. Consumed chilled, the nashi flavour was immediately apparent, featuring brighter floral notes and a more refined sweetness than typical nashi. This sweetness evolved into a juicy acidity mid-sip, finishing with a distinct honeyed quality that lingered elegantly. Each sip captured the refreshing sweetness and unique fragrance of the Nikkori nashi with sophistication, inspiring a desire to try the fresh fruit itself.
This Ito En x Nippon Yell Tochigi Nikkori Nashi contained 500 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sendai, Japan in 2024.
