This is the Morinaga Hi-Chew Wanashi. It contained nashi pear from concentrate and texture was designed to emulate the crispy bite of fresh nashi pears.

Each candy piece measured approximately 2.5 x 1.5 x 1 cm, displaying an exterior with an opaque, speckled brown layer enveloping an interior of opaque, speckled white, closely resembling the appearance of a nashi pear itself. Upon tasting, the candy had a soft taffy-like texture, allowing the teeth to sink through with ease. After a few bites, the deliciously fresh and sweet pear flavour gradually unfolded and became juicier with each subsequent chew. Simultaneously, the sugar crystals distributed throughout provided an impressively accurate texture, resembling the crisp bite of an apple, which is a defining characteristic of nashi pear. This crisp texture persisted consistently from the beginning of each piece to the very end. In summary, these Hi-Chew candies masterfully replicated the crispness of nashi pears while capturing the refreshing and juicy essence of the fruit.
This Morinaga Hi-Chew Wanashi contained 55 g or 12 pieces. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2023.
