Sakura is one of the most iconic flowers for spring, and with spring coming to a close for 2018, this is Japan GreenTea Tea Boutique Sweet Sakura Tea (Hōjicha).

Each tea bag is sealed individually and contained houjicha with cherry blossoms and leaves.

Steeping one tea bag in 200 mL of water at 80°C for 90 seconds, the infusion was a clear amber colour with fragrant cherry blossom aroma. Served hot, the bright yet mellow and lightly sour floral notes of the cherry blossoms and leaves came through at the head of each sip and persisted with a very smooth mouthfeel and a hint of salt (from the blossoms) into the body where the smoky roasted notes of the houjicha emerge and linger into the finish with barely a hint of astringency.

The mellow cherry blossoms and leaves in combination with houjicha here make it a very palatable entry into the lightly sour floral flavour of the blossoms and leaves.

This Japan GreenTea Tea Boutique Sweet Sakura Tea (Hōjicha) contained 20 g or 10x 2 g tea bags. It was packed in Japan and was purchased in Ōsaka, Japan in 2014.
