Calbee Kappa Ebisen Garlic Soy Sauce

This is the Calbee Kappa Ebisen Garlic Soy Sauce, a limited-edition flavour inspired by the taste profile of eastern Japan, specifically the Tōhoku region.

Each cracker measured approximately 4 × 0.8 × 0.7 cm, with a distinctive, fragrant aroma of garlic and soy sauce. The seasoning was visibly dusted in fine white and black powder.

On tasting, the texture was crisp, crunchy, and exceptionally light. The garlic was immediately evident, carrying a fragrant, aromatic quality, quite distinct from the flat garlic powder often used in Western snacks. This lent the product a richer savoury depth, supported by a gentle, mid-bite heat that spread warmly without overwhelming the palate. The shrimp flavour followed in the second half, as the cracker melted away on the palate, bringing a subtle sweetness that rounded out the profile—altogether tasting like garlic soy sauce shrimp. Delicious and well balanced, this is a snack worth repurchasing.

This Calbee Kappa Ebisen Garlic Soy Sauce contained 64 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2025.
