The beverage was an opaque, crisp white hue with a subtly sweet aroma of crisp apples and a moderate level of carbonation. Upon tasting, the same notes of sweet apple were evident from the beginning of each sip, with the crispness of flavour intensifying to a refreshing vibrancy in the body and almost bordering on the briefest hint of bitterness in the finish, just as the carbonation cleansed the palate for a clean aftertaste. The rich apple flavour dominated the sip from start to finish, with the overt presence of the Calpis subdued and coming through in the background only to enhance the sweetness of the apple juice with its rounded acidity. The overall result was a beverage that proved to be very refreshing, comparable to the pear version, and worth repurchasing.
