Bear Espresso Bar Cold Brew Flower Dance

This is the Cold Brew Flower Dance ($7.50) from Bear Espresso Bar, featuring the Flower Dance blend from Headlands Coffee.

The coffee presented with a translucent amber-brown hue indicative of a lighter roast and extraction style. Aroma opened with honeyed fruit notes, supported by delicate floral aromatics.

Initial contact delivered immediate floral fruitiness that strongly recalled lychee, combining fragrant rose-like aromatics with mellow natural sweetness. The cold brew format emphasised clarity and delicacy, allowing the fruit character to emerge without bitterness or roast-driven heaviness.

Through the mid-palate, soft, balanced acidity developed and reinforced the tropical floral profile. The acidity remained restrained and rounded rather than sharp, supporting the fruit notes while maintaining a smooth, approachable structure. Body was light-medium, with sufficient weight to carry the aromatic profile without diminishing its vibrancy.

Towards the finish, the underlying coffee character became more apparent. Gentle light-roast notes added depth and structure, grounding the fruit-forward profile and creating an impression reminiscent of a lychee-scented dark roasted oolong tea. The floral and fruit notes lingered well beyond the final sip, supported by subtle sweetness and clean acidity.

Aftertaste carried persistent lychee and rose-like aromatics alongside light roasted coffee notes and lingering sweetness.

Overall, a cold brew coffee with a layered progression from floral lychee-like fruitiness to gentle roasted depth, supported by a smooth, integrated body and long aromatic finish. Although the coffee was described as having watermelon and strawberry notes, the profile presented far more strongly as lychee, both in aroma and flavour.
