Since I perfected the art of cooking tapioca pearls (following the instructions on the packaging make for terrible pearls), I’ve been making milk teas at home using my vast collection of looseleaf Chinese teas.
So, it’s only been with NB that we’ve managed to try this Tea Mates Jasmine Milk Tea (at half sugar, no ice and +$0.60 for aloe jelly). The tea is a translucent off white colour with sweet jasmine aroma. Consumed chilled, the jasmine notes shine through but the immense sweetness at half-sweetness adds a heaviness to the usual lightness of the dewy jasmine. As usual, we enjoy the aloe konjac jelly that we’ve not found elsewhere, but we’d order it with even lower sweetness if we were to return for it.
This Jasmine Milk Tea was purchased at Tea Mates located at Shop 101, The Crescent, Homebush West NSW 2140 in May 2019.
