Having tried ice wine earlier, we had further opportunities to try ice wine flavoured foods when D’s parents visited Canada enroute to Alaska. These were Canada True Dark Chocolates Flavoured with Icewine.

Each box contained five pieces of chocolate in the shape of a maple leaf and about 4 x 3 x 0.7 cm in size.

An ice wine flavoured centre is enrobed in dark chocolate. Ice wine is listed last on the ingredients list.

These chocolates have the aroma of dark chocolate, which also dominates on tasting with a very gentle, barely detectable fruitiness in the background. Indeed, it’s difficult to identify the ice wine component of these chocolates as dark chocolate often carries fruity notes. Eating the chocolate and the innards separately, though, it’s evident that the source of fruitiness is the ice wine flavoured centre as the dark chocolate coating carries no such flavour. Overall, these chocolates have an enjoyable flavour as they are but we would have enjoyed a bolder ice wine presence for something so flavoured.

This Canada True Dark Chocolates Flavoured with Icewine contained 40 g or 5 pieces. It was produced in Canada and received as a gift from family visiting Canada in 2019.
