Teavana Jasmine Tropica was my first experience with the brand and remains a favourite. Unfortunately, it’s increasingly difficult to explore more of Teavana’s range as they closed all of its almost 400 retail stores internationally by 2018. Nevertheless –

The tea is a looseleaf blend of rooibos and green tea with strawberry and peach pieces, sunflower and blue mallow petals, orange peels and jasmine blossoms.

Steeping 3 g of loose leaf in 200 mL of 80°C water for 90 seconds, the infusion was a clear golden yellow colour with a sweet malty aroma. Served hot, floral notes of jasmine came through at the start with prominent malty notes from the green rooibos developing in the body ahead of mellow and earthy tropical notes of strawberry and peach in the background. A mild zesty undertone finishes the sip with the malty rooibos sweetness lingering long in the aftertaste.
The mildness of the green tea, the delicate sweetness and floral notes of this tea make it a joy to sip in summer whether hot or iced. That said, we do prefer the simplicity of jasmine-scented green tea without the added earthiness of rooibos or the tropical flavours, like the T2 China Jasmine and Lupicia Jasmine Mandarin or our favourite T2 Buddhas Tears.

This Teavana Jasmine Tropica contained 57 g. It was packed in the United States and gifted by family in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 2011.
