[Unbranded] Jasmine Pearl Tea

The trouble with many teas from China is the absence of any branding identifying its origin or producer. But we would be remiss if we didn’t include our thoughts on these teas as they’re some our favourite. This one is an unbranded Jasmine Pearl Tea that comes in a ceramic jar with a lid decorated with peonies and a swallow.

The tea is looseleaf jasmine scented green tea shaped into pearls.

Steeping 6 g of looseleaf (around 30 pearls) in 200 mL of water at 80°C for 2 minutes, the infusion was a clear pale straw colour with a soft jasmine aroma. Served hot, fragrant notes of delicate jasmine came through at the head of each sip and develop with a dewy fragrance in the body before a mellow buttery Chinese green tea finish that leaves a clean aftertaste. Overall, we enjoy the fresh and bright jasmine aroma of this tea that carried through into the taste through multiple infusions.

This [Unbranded] Jasmine Pearl Tea contained 150 g. It was produced in China and received as a gift from acquaintances visiting China in 2018.
