Meiji Kajū Gumi Fuji Apple

This is the Meiji Kajū Gumi Fuji Apple. Each bag contained its weight in fresh fruit juice, specifically, 47 g of fresh fuji apple juice concentrated 7 times to yield 6.8 g of concentrated fuji apple juice.

According to the packaging, Fuji are a popular cultivar with the highest production volume in Japan where it was named and registered in 1962 and is known for its good balance of sourness and sweetness as well as extremely good shelf life.

Each gummy is about 2 x 2 x 1 cm and in the shape of an apple with a sweet aroma of apple juice. Upon tasting, these gummy have a firm resistance to the teeth that makes them a pleasure to chew through, with the flavour of Fuji apples coming through right from the start without the usual powdery residue that can cover some gummy candy (from their cornflour moulds). The flavour starts off mellow and brightens as the gummy dissolves for a bright and natural flavour that is sweet yet well restrained by the tartness in the background. We’re fans of its flavour and texture.

This Meiji Kajū Gumi Fuji Apple contained 47 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Kumamoto, Japan in 2019.
