Dondoyaki Kabosu Nuts Sablé

These Kabosu Nuts Sablé use kabosu grown in Ōita Prefecture, where it is most widely grown in Japan.

Each box contained 10 individually foil-sealed sablé.

While the foil packaging alternates white and green, the sablé inside is the same in both.

Each sablé is 5 x 3 x 1 cm in size with a golden brown and green coloured kabosu flavoured centre dusted in crushed almonds and a buttery and mellow citrus aroma.

The sablé have a sand-like shortbread texture that delivered an audible crunch along with the crushed almonds. Upon tasting, an enjoyable nutty and buttery flavour came through before the citrussy notes of kabosu emerged in the body with a balanced sweetness. The focus of the kabosu flavour on the fruit’s zest rather than its sour juice complements the sweet, buttery qualities of the sablé without overpowering.

This Dondoyaki Kabosu Nuts Sablé contained 10 pieces. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Yufuin, Ōita in 2019.
