This is the Osulloc Camellia Flower Tea, described as capturing the ‘sweet and delicious flavours of Jeju camellia blossoms and tropical fruits’.

The teabag contained a blend of black tea and fermented tea with camellia flowers and pineapple.

Steeping one 1.8 g teabag in 150 mL of water at 90ºC for 2 minutes yielded a clear, golden-red infusion. Its aroma was a captivating blend of sweetness, tropical flavour, and floral notes, harmoniously combined without becoming overly sugary. When served hot, the enchanting scent mellowed significantly upon the palate. Instead, the flavour emerged with a delicate finesse akin to that of a white tea, distinctly absent of the dewiness commonly found in jasmine teas. However, it carried a gentle and unmistakable sweetness reminiscent of freshly bloomed camellias. As the sip progressed, tropical pineapple undertones surfaced, akin to the genuine fruit’s flavour, albeit with a subdued acidity. Mid-sip, these notes gave way to the subtle savoury accents of the fermented tea base, which rounded out the profile with a delicate astringency in the finish. This aftertaste, adorned by the lingering camellia tones, persisted momentarily on the palate.
The tea’s fragrance held a divine quality, contributing substantially to our overall enjoyment of the brew. While the captivating aroma played a significant role, the tea itself was certainly worth the experience. The opportunity to immerse ourselves in such a delightful scent was alone a reason to procure and brew this tea.
This Osulloc Camellia Flower Tea contained 5.8 g or 3 tea bags. It was produced in South Korea and purchased in Seoul, South Korea in 2023.
