Coles Kitchen Prawn Toast

These are the Coles Kitchen Prawn Toast with soy and sesame.

Each piece consisted of a thin slice of baguette topped with a prawn mixture, coated in black and white sesame seeds, and lightly fried. The box contained nine pieces, each measuring approximately 3 cm in diameter and 2–2.5 cm in height. Cooked from frozen in an air fryer, they became golden brown and crisp in 13–15 minutes.

On tasting, they had a distinct prawn aroma, with the baguette providing a crisp, crunchy base that contrasted with the tender prawn paste on top. The filling, composed of 95% prawn (making up 66% of the overall product), contained noticeable pieces of prawn, seasoned with spring onion and chives, which added a mild herbaceous note. A light peppery savouriness complemented the flavour. The sesame seeds (6%) contributed a crunchy nuttiness while enhancing visual appeal.

Overall, these were enjoyable, well-seasoned, and texturally balanced. They would work well as a party food, though they would not necessarily be a preferred choice over more substantial meal staples like har gow or gyōza.

This Coles Kitchen Prawn Toast contained 162 g (9 pieces). It was produced in Vietnam and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2025.
