This Lupicia Momo Oolong Super Grade is Lupicia’s best selling tea. High-quality oolong teas have a unique sweetness that makes them a pleasure to drink and it’s most evident in this tea.
The tea is looseleaf superior grade Taiwanese pouchong (a lightly oxidised oolong) blended with the flavour and aroma of Japanese white peach and accented with pink rose petals.
Steeping 3 g of tea leaf in 200 mL of water at 85°C for 3 minutes, the infusion was a clear yellow straw colour with a fragrant and lightly vegetal peach aroma. Served hot, pleasant vegetal notes came through ahead of fresh and bright notes of white peach nectar in the body that develop with a lightly creamy and floral towards the finish that lingered pleasantly into the aftertaste with minimal astringency. Subsequent infusions – at the same temperature for an additional 30 seconds each – have a more pronounced vegetal flavour as the leaves open fully with the white peach notes fading increasingly into the background.
The brightness of the tea from the flavour and aroma of the white peach and the rose complements the fruity notes of the oolong perfectly, giving it an uplifting and refreshing quality that makes this one of the most enjoyable oolongs.
