Evening discounts at supermarkets are a great way to pick up snacks. And with supermarkets in close proximity to our journey home each evening, we picked up some Woolworths Mini Doughnuts.
These come in fillings of jam (top) and choc hazelnut (above).
These doughnuts are very dense and dry then eaten at room temperature, but soften to an enjoyable tender texture when warmed in the microwave without becoming soggy.
We had high hopes for innards packed with choc hazelnut and jam, but unfortunately, the filling is confined to the opening, with many bites of the already mini doughnut missing out on filling. In terms of flavour, they taste like what you’d expect – Nutella and strawberry jam – but of the two, we preferred the thicker sweetness of the jam.
