Nando’s Hot Peri-Peri Groove Chips

Nando’s is known for its grilled chicken dishes with various peri-peri marinades. And these Nando’s Hot Peri-Peri Groove Chips take their peri-peri focus a step further.

The packaging promises hot – chilli and red mean hot – but unfortunately, these were not hot or spicy at all even for me, someone who’s particularly sensitive to spicy foods. Their taste is peri peri, with notable hints of tangy citrus notes, paprika and herbs, but the flavour was mellow, not the bold in-your-face flavour that you expect of crisps that are marketed as ‘hot’. Texturally, likely as a result of the potato they use, each chip lacked crunchiness despite their groove shape and has a mouthfeel that suggests dehydrated mashed potatoes – they melt in your mouth.

This Nando’s Hot Peri-Peri Groove Chips contained 150 g. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2017.
