Caramel candy isn’t a flavour I go for usually, as it’s almost always too sweet without relief and not worth dealing with its often sticky, chewy format. These Werther’s Original Caramelised Apple Flavoured Cream Candies are an exception.
The candy is hard and does not have much of a scent. Upon tasting, a caramelised apple flavour comes developed to a prominent intensity within 10 seconds. The apple flavour was sweet and creamy without the crispness of fresh apples but with its slightly tart notes coming through in the finish. The slight acidity cuts through the caramelised sweetness, which makes these candies preferable to the persistent sweetness of the regular caramels.
