Dairy Farmers Cheeky Cow A Little Sweet, a Little Salty Layered Yoghurt

When it comes to being ‘experimental’ with food, I’m the one that fits more into that category than D who sticks to his tried and true favourites. The upside, though, is that I can always count on something yummy if my ‘experiment’ fails. As was the case with this Dairy Farmers Cheeky Cow A Little Sweet, a Little Salty Layered Yoghurt, a caramelised pineapple and sea salt flavoured yoghurt. I like pineapple and I’ve enjoyed pineapple yoghurt by Chobani before, so it wasn’t entirely new.

The smell of caramel is strong from the moment the lid is taken off. It’s a smell that reminds you of buttered pancakes drizzled with golden syrup, that is to say, rich and without the clarity of maple syrup. While that is acceptable in pancake form, the yoghurt also tastes like how it smells – only stronger, and so it borders of sickeningly sweet. The association with pancakes comes from the salted pineapple recalling butter and the sweetness of the yoghurt recalling milk-based pancakes. The flavour combination does not work in yoghurt form, at all.

This tub of Dairy Farmers Cheeky Cow A Little Sweet, a Little Salty Layered Yoghurt contained 500 g. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2017.
