This Yuki & Love Mango Jelly follows on from the Litchi Jelly from earlier. Ordinarily, we’d just stick to the lychee flavour, but these were on sale and apparently won a spot in the top 10 gifts recommended by the Taipei City Government in 2008.
Each box comes with four individually sealed pouches of jelly. The shape of the jelly follows the pouch, which is gently squeezed to expose the jelly for eating.
The jelly has a sweet mango aroma that’s similar to other mango sweets from Taiwan, like Cocoaland Lot100 Mango Gummy. Upon tasting, though, the mango flavour was similar to the gummy but very much subdued – much like the lychee version – with a mild sweetness and bordering on bland, mostly as a result of the contrast with the firm texture that now takes centre stage. The taste of the jelly would be more balanced and enjoyable if either the texture was softer or the mango flavour more prominent.
