The Missing Piece is in the newly developed section of Macquarie Centre. Their stunning drinks convinced us T and N that it was a worthy brunch destination over Easter.
D ordered the iced mocha ($5.50) (above, left), which he seemed to enjoy greatly – isn’t the chocolate rim so cute? I ordered the pomegreatness ($6.50) (above, right) a green tea infused with pomegranate, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, lime & mint. This is the most beautiful drink – something like a red lagoon. And surprisingly enough the berries were more than beautiful garnish – they were firm and flavourful. The tea itself was delicious – the sweetness and tartness of the various berries balanced out and the hint of mint and lime gave a refreshing twist.
I had The Complete Picture ($16.00). This was sourdough served with fried eggs, kipfler potatoes, bacon, grilled tomato and woodsmoked mushrooms. Overall, the dish was rather average. The sourdough was rather dense and not fluffy like I’m used to from Autolyse, and it’s not hard to do decent bacon, eggs, tomato and mushrooms. The only stand out was the kipfler potatoes – they were ridiculously tasty and I would enjoy eating a plate with just them.
Overall, the consensus was amazingly beautiful and tasty drinks, but average food.
