Chocolatier Pure Indulgence Dessert Selection

We get quite a selection of chocolates at Christmas every year and by far, our most interesting box this year is this Chocolatier Pure Indulgence Dessert Selection.

It’s a selection of dessert-inspired chocolates and truffles featuring (left to right): jam doughnut, cookies and cream, tiramisu, salted caramel, black forest and peanut butter caramel.

This is the jam doughnut truffle described as having a ‘tarty jam filling, encased with pure milk chocolate rolled in cinnamon sugar’.

The cinnamon sugar is light on the cinnamon, creating an enjoyable crisp sugary ‘crust’ much like a real doughnut. Biting through, the smooth flowing jam filling provides a tartness that contrasts well with the sweet creaminess of the white chocolate as it melts.

This is the cookies and cream, described as having ‘white chocolate and real biscuit crumb centre in a milk chocolate cup’.

It’s a very cute format and tastes just right with smooth white chocolate punctuated by a chocolate crunch.

This is the tiramisu, described as being ‘an irresistible dessert made up of layered crepe crumbs and coffee’.

The crepe crumbs give a gentle crispness to the chocolate that persists throughout the chocolate along with a prominent sweet coffee flavour and lingered with a gentle bitterness in the finish along with the dark chocolate.

This is the salted caramel, described as being ‘sweet and salty at its best – pure milk chocolate with a soft caramel filling’.

There’s a good balance between the saltiness and sweetness in this chocolate that melts to a creamy smoothness.

This is the black forest, described as having ‘dark chocolate, cherry jam and real biscuit crumb with dark chocolate flakes’.

Along with the tiramisu, this is one of our favourite chocolates in the box. The dark chocolate case and flakes bring a gentle bitterness that’s complemented well by the natural sweet tartness of the cherry jam and lingered pleasantly in the aftertaste.

Finally, this is the peanut butter caramel, described as having ‘peanut butter and caramel filling, topped with roasted peanuts in a pure milk cup’.

This one reminds us of the salted caramel with a more interesting and tasty crunch and nuttiness from the peanuts that helps cut through the sweetness of the caramel.

The dessert selection is an inventive take on popular desserts, with the tiramisu and black forest being our favourites.

This Chocolatier Pure Indulgence Dessert Selection contained 190 g. It was produced in Australia and gifted by colleagues in Sydney Australia in 2018.
