With plans to make either our own egg’s benedict or bacon and egg muffins, we were surprised to find this Tip Top English Muffins Herb & Garlic variation on the original.
The herb mix contained parsley, basil, oregano and marjoram (0.6%). As with the original ones, they’re touted as being ‘twist to open’, but we find it’s easier and neater with a knife.
These muffins have the same tender texture with just enough of a hint of herbs to elevate it from the original to categorise it as a muffin for savoury toppings (so, would avoid spreading fruit jams as we might do with the original). The herbs came through when the muffin is eaten by itself, but aren’t strong enough to came through the flavour of fried eggs and ham/bacon noticeably. That said, they’re the same price as the original, so we’d choose these when making savoury muffins.
