We spotted this Woolworths Pane Di Casa Potato & Rosemary at the bakery section and immediately thought to compare it to the delicious potato and rosemary sourdough available at Bourke Street Bakery.
The loaf is about 30 x 12 x 7 cm.
Of course, at less than half the price, this one hardly lived up to the comparison. For starters, it’s not sourdough and so has a denser and chewier, although still tender, texture. There’s a gentle rosemary flavour with visible flecks throughout, while we can only assume the potato was part of the flour used in the dough. There’s nothing close to a fragrant aroma or the generous chunks of potato that made us enjoy the one from Bourke Street Bakery so much.
