In the first few years of The Choc Pot’s opening, there used to be a selection of teas for purchase alongside their regular menu of desserts. It’s no longer the case, but this The Choc Pot Soursop Sencha was part of that collection of which we’re particularly fond and wish to return.

The tea is looseleaf of sencha scented with soursop.

Steeping 3 g of loose leaf in 200 mL of water at 75°C for 90 seconds, the infusion was a clear golden straw colour with a tropical and fruity aroma. Served hot, fragrant notes of soursop flesh — a combination of strawberry, pineapple, banana, and a hint of citrus — came through at the head of each sip before giving way to the vegetal notes of the sencha in the finish with a gentle astringency that lingered on the palate. Overall, the soursop flavour was bright and refreshing with an elegance that’s far beyond the Governor’s Estate Soursop Green Tea.

This The Choc Pot Soursop Sencha contained 50 g. It was packed in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2014.
