We picked up these Coles Finest Australian Pork Sausages Blended with Cider & Apple for quick dinner. They’re described as ‘a sweet and fruity coarse ground sausage made with Australian Sow Stall Free Pork’.
These sausages contain 72% pork, 11% apple and 4% cider. It’s seasoned with sage, rosemary, pepper, ginger, pimento, cloves, cassia, coriander, and nutmeg.
These sausages have a firm, coarse texture with a gentle sweet porky aroma. Upon tasting though, the pork flavour takes a back seat with the notes of nutmeg overwhelming the flavour along with a prominent sweetness from the cider and pockets of softness from the apple. The overall flavour was odd with too much sweetness and acidity, reminding too much of an apple pie with pork. We’re not fans.
