These Meisan Kinkan Cough Drops use kinkan, a type of kumquat, from Miyazaki Prefecture.
It contained honey, kinkan paste (100% from Miyazaki Prefecture), as well as 21 herbal extracts.
These cough drops are an opaque orange colour and about 1.5 cm in diameter and 0.8 cm in height. Upon tasting, the drops have an initial zestiness and ‘green’ vegetal hint much like the skin of kumquats generally. About 30 seconds in, a prominent sweet acidity recalling the flesh of the fruit developed and persisted into the finish.
This Meisan Kinkan Cough Drops contained 100 g or 25 pieces. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Kyōto, Japan in 2018.
