We recently rediscovered Homebush West as a haven for Vietnamese and Indo-Sri Lankan food on the recommendation of NB, so we stopped by Tea Mates to hydrate us on our (short) exploration through the shops.
There’s been a long running special for ‘buy one get one free’ ever since they first opened in 2018. The offer is valid only for two of the same drink excluding toppings, although sweetness and ice levels can be adjusted for applicable drinks.
This is the Grape Fresh Fruit Tea (large, no sugar, $7.50, +$0.60 for aloe jelly; $8.70 for two). The drink is blended with ice and fresh fruit, giving it the pink colour from the grape skin and pulp throughout, without a green tea base. Consumed chilled, the drink had a delightfully natural flavour of red grapes without the syrupy grape candy notes of usual grape flavoured food. The grape pulp adds pops of prominent flavour and texture, while the aloe jelly has the addictive bounce of konjac based jellies. Indeed, we’ve not encountered aloe jelly — as distinct from aloe pulp — as a topping elsewhere. If they continue with their ‘buy one get one free promotion’, we can see ourselves returning easily.
