This Nespresso Barista Creations Scuro is the medium-to-dark roast of the three coffees released as part of the Barista Creations range that’s designed for preparing with milk. It’s a blend of Arabicas from Colombia and Ethiopia that have been split-roasted in a contrasting long and dark/fast and light manner.
It has an intensity of 8 out of 12 and comes in a tan capsule with a marbled pattern.
The ristretto is a translucent brown-black colour with an intense roasted coffee aroma.
Prepared as a flat white with 20 mL ristretto to 60 mL of frothed milk, the roasted coffee came through prominently but its intensity is tempered by the creaminess and delicate sweetness from the milk. Overall, this coffee has little acidity and a remarkably enjoyable boldness that shines through with milk but without any prominent dairy notes or the addition of sugar.
