Having been satisfied with the Xcel Roll in Parramatta earlier, we were keen to pick up another pork roll from their Auburn branch while running errands in the area.

This is a dedicated store in the middle of a parking lot for an area called The Bell Tower.
Unlike most other bakeries, there’s ample seating both inside and out. For such an out of the way location, the store is relatively busy and seems to service most of the employees from the shops in the area.

This is the Classic Pork Roll ($5.50) on a crispy white roll. It’s also available in a soft white roll, which is still something I find odd, but we did see people ask for it when we were there so maybe it’s more popular than we think.

Here, the slices of cold cut meats are thick with an equally generous serving of vegetables. The cucumber and coriander, though, looked less vibrant and fresh and less generous than we’d like to balance the generosity of the meat. That said, the bread of light and crispy, making for a very satisfying and quick lunch whenever we’re in the area.
There’s a wide variety of non-traditional rolls to choose from, including curry chicken and crispy fish. We’re fans of the classic, although we wouldn’t be adverse to trying the BBQ pork or crispy pork.
Xcel Roll is located at The Bell Tower, 23/191 Parramatta Road, Auburn NSW 2144.
