The jelly uses lychee grown in Miyazaki Prefecture, specifically Miki Farm in Shintomi-cho, Koyu-gun.
Each box contained 6 individually sealed pieces.
The jelly is around 6 x 4 x 1 cm and a translucent off white colour with a gently sweet aroma.
The lychee flavour came through with bright and crisp with a floral sweetness that’s well restrained for a natural taste, while the jelly has a slightly thick mouthfeel that allows the lychee flavour to linger longer on the palate. The texture comes from plant-based gelatin that gave the jelly a slight bounce somewhere between the crumbly texture of agar-based jellies and the bouncy texture of konjac-based jellies. While certainly enjoyable, we prefer the more accessible and reasonably priced Orihiro Purunto Konnyaku Lychee Jelly overall.
