Starbucks Peach Chocolate Black Tea Latte

Since the Christmas drinks in November, Starbucks went a long while without a seasonal drink on its menu. To celebrate cherry blossom season in the northern hemisphere, though, they brightened up our shorter autumn days with three peach themed tea-based drinks. This is the Starbucks Peach Chocolate Black Tea Latte ($5.50).

It is available both hot and iced and described as being ‘creamy, comforting and irresistibly uplifting’, being a ‘fruity twist on traditional tea’ that ‘featured a fusion of chocolate black tea, tart peach sauce and fresh milk’ and ‘finished off with whipped cream and a pink flower-shaped meringue topping’.

The latte is an opaque pink-brown colour with a sweet fruity chocolate aroma. Upon tasting, the latte has a creamy mouthfeel with an enjoyable richness in the chocolate that’s lifted by the boldness of the black tea base and the refreshing lightness of the peach flavour. Indeed, the overall flavour recalled the white peach flavoured Coca-Cola from Japan, while the meringue adds an element of crunchy sweetness. That said, it’s more of a novelty drink I’d try once rather than something to try again.

This Peach Chocolate Black Tea Latte appeared on menus at Starbucks in Sydney, Australia in March 2020.
