Nestlé KitKat Chocolatory Sublime Yuzu

This is the Nestlé KitKat Chocolatory Sublime Yuzu. This is part of their premium range sold only as single full-sized wafers.

Each wafer is individually wrapped in foil and ‘covered in luscious, creamy yuzu infused white chocolate’. It contained 2.8% yuzu juice concentrate.

The KitKat has a prominent cocoa butter aroma that does not give any hints of yuzu. Upon tasting, though, the notes of yuzu came through bold and vibrant as the white chocolate melts instantly on the tongue to release the well known refreshing acidity and zestiness of the fruit with a smooth creaminess. The acidity builds in the body almost to the point of too sour (but very much reflects the fruit) before the crushed wafer and chocolate sandwiching the crispy wafers give a gentle sweetness that quietly restrained the sourness in the finish.

This KitKat draws its yuzu flavour from the juice of the fruit itself rather than the rind of the fruit as in the Bijofu Yuzushu version. In doing so, it avoids the prominent bitterness in the Yuzushu version, which is also has a more carbonation, sweeter flavour. We find this Sublime version absolutely delicious, with our only lament being that they’re sold individually at a premium.

This Nestlé KitKat Chocolatory Sublime Yuzu contained 11 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2020.
