678 Korean BBQ Restaurant is the highest rated of its kind in Eastwood, making it an easy choice for decision fatigued selves on a Saturday.
The interior is spacious and very well ventilated, with the walls lined with framed photographs of popular Korean boybands who have visited and autographed some of the bricks.
The complementary side dishes here are (clockwise from top right): salt and pepper, soy sauce and chilli, chilli paste, sweet potato and kim chi.
There are three salads from the bean sprouts and spring onion in chilli sauce (top) to the lettuce and onion with dressing (bottom) and select lettuce leaves for wrapping each bite (not pictured).
The grill comes with a channel for egg custard (left) and corn and cheese (right).
For our veggie needs, this is the Assorted Vegetable Platter for Grill ($17.00). There was a variety of mushrooms, red and green capsicum, sweet potato and zucchini.
This is the Chilli Marinated Prime Pork Belly 200 g ($25.00). We were rather disappointed that this one cooked up to taste like fatty bacon.
This is the Thinly Sliced Wagyu Beef Tongue 200g ($26.00). These slices needed just a few moments on the pan to retain their tenderness and avoid chewiness.
This is the Soy Marinated LA Style Beef Short Rib ($29.00). This was by far our favourite cut of the three with the meat soaking up the marinaded while bringing the perfect balance of meatiness, tenderness and flavour. We could eat this forever!
And finally, this is the Cold Buckwheat Noodle Soup ($15.00). These noodles have the addictive chewiness that we love, while the slices of nashi pear and pickled daikon and cucumber added a remarkable freshness to the already ice cold noodles. Yum!
The well ventilated and well spaced out Korean BBQ experience at 678 Korean BBQ Restaurant is a far cry from the establishments that infuse all our clothing with the BBQ smoke. It’s relaxing and refined, with high quality of ingredients that are reflected in the price.
