This Bilpin Cider Co Non-Alcoholic Apple & Blood Orange Cider was the first non-alcoholic cider we picked up from the cellar in Bilpin. It is an unsweetened blend of 84% apples and 16% blood oranges.
The beverage was a translucent bright orange colour with crushed orange particles suspended throughout and a moderate carbonation. Served chilled, the initial sweetness of the apples developed swiftly with an elegant citrus twist in the body. The blood orange notes were gently zesty with restrained acidity and notes of ripe raspberry, much like the fresh fruit. A drier apple flavour emerged in the finish as the bubbles cleansed the palate for a clean aftertaste. Overall, the presence of the tangy blood orange gave the beverage an elegantly balanced sweetness that was absent in the typical sparkling apple juices available from the supermarket.
