This is the Four ‘n Twenty Traveller Lasagne Topper. It’s described as having ‘the delicious taste of beef bolognese, topped with pasta and cheese in a crispy golden crumb shell’.
Each topper is about 10 x 7 x 2 cm in size and contained 24% beef, 15% cooked pasta and 7% cheese. It can be heated in the microwave, though we opted for the oven for the prospect of a crisper outcome.
The topper came out with an audibly crunchy crust that gave it sufficient structure without needing cutlery as one would with usual lasagne. The mince layer was generous with a bolognaise flavour, but without being overly saucy. A sheet of pasta topped the mince before a layer of cheese finished the interior, though the two layers were not distinct and essentially blended into one. The cheese was thick – but did not really carry a bechamel flavour or consistency – while the pasta was soft. Overall this was a neat package for eating on the go, but not something to repurchase.
