This is the Morinaga Hi-chew Premium Red Grape. In their premium line, Hi-chew utilised high-quality ingredients and coated them with a soft candy shell, encapsulating a chewy center. In this case, the red grape flavour was derived from 98% Italian Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, which were transformed into a flavouring powder.
Each piece was 1.5 cm in diameter, with a pastel pink coating, and contained 0.7 g of Cabernet Sauvignon juice concentrated sixfold.
Upon tasting, the soft candy shell imparted a refreshing sensation, while the grape flavour gradually intensified as the powder rehydrated, reminiscent of sherbet. The grape essence became notably robust upon reaching the chewy interior, delivering a profoundly sweet richness akin to freeze-dried fruits. Remarkably, the texture remained addictively chewy, devoid of any teeth-clinging stickiness, leaving behind only a fleeting grape aftertaste. We thoroughly enjoyed these confections and would readily indulge in them once more.
