They’re Nespresso-compatible coffee capsules that are compostable and roasted locally.
The espresso was an opaque brown-black colour with a dark-roasted, candied-fruit aroma. Prepared as a long-black with a 1:1 water-to-espresso ratio, the coffee had a medium body with a gentle acidity at the head of each sip that gave way to subtle woody notes in the body before developing swiftly with a tobacco-like bitterness that came to prominence in the finish and lingered long on the palate. Prepared as a flat white by adding 120 mL of frothed milk to the espresso, the coffee takes on a rounder mouthfeel with the sweetness from the milk taking the edge off the bitterness.
Overall, these capsules may lack the consistency of original Nespresso capsules, but they’re very decent capsules that are superior to the flavour of those from Moccona.
