Altina Sansgria

This is the Altina Sansgria, a playful concoction with a punny name. This non-alcoholic sparkling red wine was crafted from a blend of riberry, shiraz grapes, orange, lemon, and cayenne pepper. While we don’t consider ourselves avid wine enthusiasts, we will review this drink relative to our broader beverage experiences rather than an exclusive comparison to wines.

Presenting a deep ruby red hue, the drink emitted a familiar fragrance reminiscent of red wines – grapey, tart, and fermented – complemented by a gentle carbonation. Upon tasting, initial grape-wine characteristics took the forefront, accompanied by a moderate riberry acidity. As each sip progressed, lively citrusy orange notes emerged, lending a vibrant dimension to the body, followed by subtle hints of vanilla that brought a smooth conclusion. This experience closely resembled that of a de-alcoholized wine, deviating notably from soft drinks or flavoured water. Notably, it managed to diminish nearly all traces of bitterness while maintaining a touch of dryness. This approach highlighted the intricate layers of the flavour profile. While we would choose to enjoy this drink again, we hold other beverage preferences in higher regard.

This Altina Sansgria contained 250 mL. It was produced in Australia and received as part of a promotional campaign in Australia in 2023.
